INTRODUCTION
The file SMQINST.EXE is an external configuration program. It has
built in help and can be used to do extra things not supported with
Session Manager such as turn off EMS memory capability, special
subdirectory configuration, and other features.
If this is the first time you have used Session Manager, you should
start the main program FIRST, configure the paths, then save the
configuration and exit Session Manager. Start SMQINST.EXE and run
through the configuration. That should pretty well handle anything
you need to do. You also have the option of not running the install
program but you will be missing some of the powerful features.
If this is just an upgrade of the main program, you do not have to
start the main program and configure it first. Simply start the
installation program and LOAD your configuration (SMMAIN.CFG).

LOAD
Session Manager allows you to retain a copy of your customized set
up for use with future releases. This selection will load the file
SMMAIN.CFG that was created by this program's STORE option and
contains your setup data.
If you have registered SM and completed that process by simply
running SM and then used the STORE option, even your registration
information has been saved.
STORE
Session Manager allows you to save a copy of your set up options and
color data that can be used with a future version of SM and SMQINST
to quickly reconfigure the newer version.
This option will create the file SMMAIN.CFG that can later be used
with the LOAD option for quick configuration.
If you have registered this copy of Session Manager and have
completed the process by running SM, then this option will also save
your registration information.
COLORS
Session Manager will allow you to configure the program's colors or
you can choose to perform that operation here. This option also lets
you choose from any of a number of supplied color sets that are
contained in the file SMCOLORS.LIB. Once in the color selection
area, press + and - to cycle through the various color sets. When
you find one that you want, press <Enter> to select it. If you want
to change some of the colors, press <Ctrl E>, edit the colors, then
press <Enter>. If none of the supplied colors suit you, you can
choose your own and insert that set into the library with <Ctrl I>.

EDITOR
Although Session Manager contains its own powerful internal editor,
you can also configure SM to use another editor. This selection will
guide you through that set up.
Note, that if you wish to only use your external editor, you should
also set that default in the OPTIONS area.
Use 2 file names
If your editor can accept 2 file names on the command line, then
Session Manager can write a text file to be used when replying to
an existing message. If it cannot, then SM can write the
referenced message to the same file name that will be used for your
message to allow you to use use the original message for quoting.
Editor file spec
You must enter the complete file spec including the path, name and
extension for you editor in this field. SMQINST will provide an
error report if the file you have specified does not exist.
